Live365 Enters Canada With Licensing From SOCAN and Re:Sound
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Pittsburgh, Pa., June 1, 2018 -- Live365, an original pioneer in internet radio and broadcasting services, announced today that they have secured licensing in Canada from both SOCAN and Re:Sound to cover Live365 originating broadcasts.
As a result of the agreements, Live365 has removed the sitewide geo-block and streaming is now available to all listeners in Canada. Mobile apps and other Live365 distribution will be opened in the coming weeks. All Broadcasters on the Live365 platform will be covered for Canadian licensing on top of the existing U.S. licensing.
“As copyrights are getting more complex, Live365 is committed to bringing webcasters coverage beyond the United States,” stated Jon Stephenson, CEO of Live365. “Canada is just the first of many countries where we will extend the Live365 service. We fully understand the value of providing a unique service to webcasters while ensuring artists and rights holders continue getting compensated properly for their works. This is only the beginning of our expansion.”
